The 2021 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week was held from September 23rd to 29th in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. Professor Zhang Nong, Vice President of JSNU, and the director of International Office attended the relevant activities.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Guo Xiwen, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province. Chen Yiqin, Secretary of Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, announced the opening. Minister of Education of China, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, President of China Education Association for International Exchange, ASEAN Secretary General, and Ministers of Education from Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and other ASEAN countries delivered speeches offline or online respectively.
Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education of China, pointed out that the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week has become an important institutional platform for connectivity and mutual learning between China and ASEAN in the field of education. In the future, China will strengthen its determination to open up its education to the outside world, strengthen educational exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries and other countries, build a higher-quality system of China-ASEAN education cooperation, and play a bigger role in promoting friendship between the peoples and economic development of the two sides.
Songsai Siphandun, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, said that the activity is an important platform for cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. He hoped to deepen people-to-people exchanges, strengthen practical cooperation in education and human resources development, promote sustainable development of education and make new contributions to regional peace, prosperity and stability.
Ministers of Education from ASEAN countries and other guests said that the Cooperation Week has a distinct theme and focuses on investing in the younger generation. They will focus on the education needs of ASEAN countries, work with China to continuously promote high-level bilateral and multilateral strategic cooperation. During the week, participants organized a series of more than 20 exchange activities, including educational cooperation, personnel training, people-to-people exchanges, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Zhang Nong, Vice President of JSNU, attended the fourth annual conference of China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of Universities hosted by Guizhou Institute of Technology. The conference approved seven universities and enterprises, including Jiangsu Normal University, to join the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of Universities. At the invitation of the conference, Vice President Zhang Nong served as the keynote speaker of the conference.
Since the launch of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, it has become a bridge for educational exchanges between China and ASEAN countries. Great progress has been made in the cooperation between Chinese and ASEAN institutions in language learning, scientific research, teacher-student exchanges, entrepreneurship education and development. Joining the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance will further promote the friendly cooperation between JSNU and universities in ASEAN countries, and improve the level of internationalization construction of JSNU.
