On October 22nd to 23rd, the 4th Dialogue Between the Civilizations of China and the LAC was held in Beijing. Professor Cen Hong, Vice Party Secretary of CPC JSNU Committee, attended the forum and made a speech. Nearly 200 politicians, diplomats, scholars, journalists and representatives of international organizations from 11 countries, including China, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Uruguay, Costa Rica and Ecuador, participated in the forum both offline and online.
The Forum is co-sponsored by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, the Institute of Latin American Studies Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincical People’s Government, the Latin American Social Sciences Council, the Argentine Institute of Fatherland and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. International Poverty Reduction Center in China and other institutions jointly organized the event with Jiangsu Normal University. The theme of the forum is “Development Experience Sharing: Towards a New China-LAC Partnership”.
At the opening ceremony, Ma Peihua, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, Eduardo Frey, former President of Chile, Du Zhanyuan,Director of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Wang Linggui, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Qiu Ziaoqi, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs, Li Jinzhang, former Vice Foreign Minister of China, Louis De Montsalve, Colombia’s ambassador to China, and Paul Valle, Brazilian ambassador to China, delivered speeches respectively.
The two-day forum has focused on the exchanges and experience sharing of development models, knowledge cooperation, poverty reduction, ecological civilization, digital economy and smart cities, as well as health and social governance. At the closing ceremony on the 23rd, Yang Ping, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, read out the Beijing Declaration of the Civilizations of China and the LAC on behalf of the forum organizers.
Professor Cen Hong, Vice Party Secretary of CPC JSNU Committee, made a speech at the closing ceremony. She pointed out that China and Latin America are increasingly becoming a community of shared interests, responsibilities and destiny. This forum is an academic gathering to discuss the building of a new type of China-Latin America exchange and cooperation in the new era. JSNU will continue to take advantage of its own advantages to further deepen the study of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Latin America and build a bridge for the dialogue between the two civilizations.
