Mutual Support, a Close Friendship and a Shared Future --- Online and Offline Conference Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between China and Pakistan held in Xuzhou

On December 29th, Video Conference Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between China and Pakistan was held at Jiangsu Normal University in Xuzhou.

This conference, sponsored by Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s government, Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai, Consulate General of China in Lahore, was jointly organized by Foreign Affairs Office of Xuzhou Municipal People’s Government, Jiangsu Normal University and University of the Punjab.

Mr. Moin ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Mr. Huang Xiqiang, Superintendant of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s government, Mr. Hussain Haider, Consul General of Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai, Mr. Peng Zhengwu, Consul General of Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore, Mr. Niaz Ahamd Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of University of the Punjab addressed online speeches.

Offline speeches were made by Mr. Wu Weidong, Vice Mayor of Xuzhou and Prof. Cen Hong, Vice Chair of Jiangsu Normal University Committee.

Experts and scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Sichuan University and Jiangsu Normal University conducted academic exchanges with Pakistani scholars from University of the Punjab, National University of Sciences and Technology, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore College for Women University.

Mr. Moin ul Haque said that the past decades witnessed the development and deepness between China and Pakistan. In recently years, the continuous improvement has benefited from two-sides’ governments. By far, we promoted a win-win situation and an all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation. Looking forward to the future, we sincerely hoped that the two sides, including our universities, would deepen bilateral cooperation, seize the opportunity and face challenges together.

“Through 70-years’ development, a firm trust and friendship have been cultivated. Under the guidance of the ‘B&R’ Initiative, the CPEC had made great achievements. Our international cooperation in the battle of epidemic prevention has been a model for the international society. This profound seminar contributed wisdom and power to our future.” Mr. Huang said.

Then, in his speech, Mr. Wu introduced Xuzhou’s development in economy, society, education and culture. He noted that with the support of the “B&R Initiative” and CPEC, Xuzhou and Pakistan would work together to create a prospect future

Dated back to the history of two sides’ cooperation, Prof. Cen briefed on the latest achievements of JSNU and showed her expectation to a deeper cooperation in scientific research, humanistic exchange and business collaboration.

On the seminar, scholars all looked back on the process of two sides’ relationship, explored a path for future developing all-round cooperation between us and looked forward to our bright future. A common consensus that mutual efforts were demanded among the guests and they all agreed that in this way could we build a closer China-Pakistan community.
