On the afternoon of March 17th, a delegation from Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) in New Zealand paid an official visit to Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU). Vice President Shang Liang hosted a reception for the delegation, which was also attended by heads from JSNU’s Office of International Affairs, School of Foreign Studies, School of Education Science, and School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science.
On behalf of JSNU, Vice President Shang extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. He noted that as a prestigious institution in New Zealand, VUW boasts distinctive educational strengths and a profound academic legacy, with significant alignment between its disciplinary development and that of JSNU. He emphasized that JSNU has long prioritized international education and actively expanded exchanges and cooperation with universities around the world, adding that this visit has built a vital bridge for collaboration between the two institutions. He expressed hope that both sides would take this meeting as a starting point to explore diverse cooperation models and jointly drive the high-quality development of education.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Logan Bannister of VUW expressed sincere gratitude for JSNU’s warm reception. She spoke highly of JSNU’s educational prowess and its commitment to internationalization, while providing an overview of VUW’s institutional profile, disciplinary layout, and progress in international cooperation. She commented that JSNU’s development achievements were deeply impressive and expressed her anticipation for establishing a long-term, stable cooperative relationship with JSNU. She proposed joint initiatives in student exchanges, faculty visits, and collaborative research to strengthen interactions between the faculty and students of both universities.
Following the main meeting, a thematic panel discussion on project cooperation was held, where heads of relevant colleges and departments from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on specific cooperation matters and reached broad consensus.
At the conclusion of the meeting, and in the presence of all attendees, representatives from the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This signing marks the entry of cooperation between JSNU and VUW into a substantive phase, laying a solid foundation for comprehensive and in-depth inter-university collaboration moving forward.
Prior to the meeting, the delegation visited JSNU’s School of Education Science, School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, School of Chemistry and Materials Science, as well as the foreign teachers’ apartments.
