To help international students in China better understand fine traditional Chinese culture, experience the charm of the Chinese language, boost the high-quality development of international Chinese language education, and create a strong atmosphere for Chinese learning and exchange, our college carefully planned the 2026 International Chinese Language Day series of activities. With the theme of “Chinese: Lighting Up Colorful Dreams”, this year’s events adopted a dual-track model combining classroom warm-up and offline experience. It attracted hundreds of international students to take an active part. The venue was filled with a warm atmosphere and wonderful highlights, fully demonstrating the allure of the Chinese language and the splendor of fine traditional Chinese culture.
In the early stage of the campaign, our college took classrooms as the main platform to carry out comprehensive warm-up activities for International Chinese Language Day. Teachers integrated Chinese learning and cultural experience into daily teaching. Through assignment creation, in-class achievement demonstrations, Chinese character appreciation, classic recitation, cultural sharing, and other forms, students perceived the beauty of Chinese in daily studies and were inspired to explore the Chinese language and traditional Chinese culture, laying a solid foundation for the smooth launch of offline themed activities.
On the afternoon of April 20, the offline themed day officially kicked off at the International College. At the opening ceremony, Teacher Lei Yangyang, Director of the College Teaching Management Office, led all participants to shout the activity slogan in unison — “Chinese: Lighting Up Colorful Dreams”. Powerful and passionate, he encouraged students to broaden their horizons and enhance exchanges through Chinese learning, light up dreams with language, and jointly paint a colorful future. Five distinctive experience zones were set up, allowing students to wander freely and immerse themselves in the charm of traditional Chinese culture. During the event, international students wielded writing brushes to create Chinese characters and poems themed on “Chinese” and “dreams”, presenting the unique beauty of Chinese calligraphy with every stroke. Tea art, guzheng performance, paper-cutting, kite painting, and lacquered fan making were presented in turn, offering an up-close encounter with intangible cultural heritage. Traditional Hanfu and exquisite props, matched with exclusive check-in backgrounds, captured wonderful moments of traditional Chinese style. Traditional folk games such as arrow throwing and ring toss brought great fun, filling the scene with constant laughter and cheers. The venue was crowded yet well-organized. Students learned through experience and deepened mutual understanding through interaction, fully expressing their passion for the Chinese language and traditional Chinese culture.
The 2026 International Chinese Language Day series of activities deeply integrated classroom teaching with practical experiences, enriching international students’ campus cultural life while enhancing their Chinese proficiency and learning enthusiasm.
Moving forward, our college will continue to take the Chinese language as a bond, launch more distinctive cultural activities, and steadily build platforms for cultural exchange. We will let the beauty of Chinese nurture the whole campus and empower international students to grow and thrive through cultural influence.
