Overview

Mechanical design, manufacturing and automation major, as the key major and the characteristic major in in Jiangsu Province, and the brand major in our university, there are 33 full-time professional teachers, including 7 professors, 17 associate professors, 22 graduate tutors, of whom teachers with a doctorate accounted for 73%. There are 3 candidates of Jiangsu Province "333 Project", 2 high-level talents of "six talent peak", 4 young academic leaders of "Blue Project", and 4 outstanding young backbone teachers of "Blue Project". The school has a national off-campus practice base for students, a national virtual simulation experimental center, a mechanics-based provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, a municipal engineering and technology research center and a municipal engineering laboratory. It has signed a "1 plus 10" joint training agreement with more than a dozen famous companies in the industryi ncluding Xugong Group, China Yituo Group Co., Ltd.. It has established good cooperation relationship with some well-known universities at home and abroad such as the Russian St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It can provide a strong guarantee for the cultivation of students.

The major of Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation is a national first-class undergraduate program. It is open to students from countries along the Silk Road. This major trains students to be engaged in mechanical design, mechanical manufacturing, automation design and control, system research and development management and other work in the field of mechanical engineering, and trains students to be senior engineering and technical talents with strong international adaptability to meet the needs of the industry.

The bachelor's degree I completed in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Automation at Jiangsu Normal University was an eye-opening learning experience. It changed my perspective on the ways I could help advance my field. I have spent only four years at JSNU, but I left with a lifetime of experience. I met people with so much humility, dedication, passion, and discipline. I gained a lot of confidence I needed to start a new journey in life. Now I'm in the process of my Master’s degree program at JSNU that I've always dreamed of doing. In the end, I want to say that if you have a keen interest to upgrade your knowledge and skills then why are you waiting for it. Knowledge and Skills

(1) Have the relevant mathematical, natural science and economic knowledge and related computing ability required to engage in engineering and technical work, have extensive theoretical and technical knowledge of mechanical design, understand the development status and trends of mechanical design and automation.

(2) Master the basic theories of machinery manufacturing, have strong process practice ability and the analysis and solution abilities of basic manufacturing process problems. Master the basic professional theory and technology of traditional manufacturing technology and automated manufacturing system, and have the ability to use the above-mentioned theoretical knowledge and technic means to study and solve the practical problems of manufacturing technology.

(3) Have the ability to design and implement basic engineering experiments, have the ability to analyze experimental results and make innovation. Master the structural principles and methods of use of experimental equipment related to mechanical design and machinery manufacturing technology, and have certain independent research, development and design capabilities.

(4) Have the necessary responsibilities of science and technology workers, as well as the sense of contributing to and serving the society.

Employment

The school is student-oriented, pays attention teaching students basic professional knowledge, and focuses on the cultivation of students' scientific research ability, engineering practice ability and innovation ability. There is a mentor for each undergraduate student, who train undergraduate’s innovation ability, guides undergraduate’s career planning, internship practice, graduation design and international exchanges and joint training activities. Over the years, the employment situation of students trained in this major has been good, and they has been widely recognized by foreign enterprises, large-sized and medium-sized state-owned enterprises and government departments.

Introduction to School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Jiangsu Normal University

School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Jiangsu Normal University is located in Quanshan campus, whose predecessor belonged to Jiangsu Coal Mining College that was established in 1958. They were merged in 1999 and Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of School of Engineering in Xuzhou Normal University at that time. The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering was set up in 2006. With many efforts in the past sixty years, every business in the school has developed rapidly. There are 63 professional teachers at present, of whom 9 teachers with professor title, 2 Yangtze River scholars double employed by the Ministry of Education, 1 professor of provincial industry, 29 associate professors, 39 doctors accounting for 61.9%, 21 teachers with overseas training experience accounting for 33.3%. There are 4 young science and technology leaders of the provincial "333 high-level talent training project", 2 people of the provincial "six talent peak" high-level talents, 4 young academic leaders of the provincial "blue project", 3 young excellent key teachers, 9 science and technology vice presidents of the provincial "double-creation plan". The school adheres to multi-level teaching, and continues to expand the pattern of education. There are about 500 full-time undergraduate and graduate students, 70 overseas students studying for a diploma, 259 full-time students of the Sino-Russian jointly training, and 586 full-time undergraduate students of private jointly training.
