  School of Mechanical and ElectricalEngineering is one of the earliest departments in Jiangsu Normal University(JSNU), which possesses one sharable course as a national quality resource, onenational quality course, two provincial quality courses, one NationalExperimental Teaching Center of Virtual Simulation of Rail Transit Informationand Control and one national practice and education base for off-campusstudents, presiding over 117 research projects, of which 7 are at national level,31 at provincial level, 9 provincial or ministerial scientific andtechnological progress awards.

  School of Mechanical and ElectricalEngineering offers four undergraduate programs: mechanical design-manufactureand automation, mechanical design-manufacture and automation(teacher-cultivating), mechanical design-manufacture and automation (high-speedtrains project), industrial design and others (research areas). Now, there areabout 800 full-time undergraduates and postgraduates. Currently, School ofMechanical and Electrical Engineering incorporates four departments: Departmentof Mechanical design and manufacturing, Department of industrial design,Department of vehicle engineering, Department of mechanical foundation and 2institutes: Institute of mechanical and electrical technology, Institute ofhydraulic control technology. The School has one teaching center for nationalvirtual simulation experimental rail transit information and control, onepractice and education base of national-level for off-campus students, oneprovincial experimental teaching demonstration center, one provincialindustrial design center , two central and local government co-constructionlabs, two provincial enterprises graduate workstations.

  Now there are altogether 57 facultymembers, including 9 professors (1 Yangtze River scholar Professor of Ministryof Education), 25 associate professors, among which 23 teachers hold doctoraldegrees and 25 are supervisors for either PhD candidates or master degreecandidates. In recent years, the faculty members have completed 117 researchprojects, 7 of which are at national level, 31 at provincial level, havepublished more than 572 papers, among which 196 papers are indexed by SCI, EIand ISTP, have published 10 monographs, and gained 37 national patents.

MechanicalDesign-Manufacturing and Automation

  Mechanical Design-Manufacturing andAutomation has been set up to provide the students with basic knowledge ofmechanical design and manufacturing, application ability and innovation ability. This program will propel them to beadvanced engineers in the fields of design and manufacture, technologydevelopment, application research, operation management and business sales. Allof them are actively engaged in the forefront of industrial production.

  We boast an excellent teaching staff.There are 29 professors and associate professors, 90% of whom are PhD holders.

We aim to cultivate three kinds oftalents: the top-notch innovative type, the comprehensive and practical typeand the internationalized type. The main things they learn are basic theory andbasic knowledge of mechanical design, mechanical manufacturing, machinery andelectronics as well as automation and some other aspects, receiving basiccultivating of mechanical engineers. Students will not only have a solidfoundation in engineering sciences, but also have capacities in the areas ofmechanical product design, manufacturing, equipment control and producingorganization management.

  Our core courses involve DescriptiveGeometry and Mechanical Drawing, Theoretical Mechanics, Material Mechanics,Mechanical Principles, Mechanical Design, Base of Mechanical Manufacturing,Base of Mechanical Engineering Control, Mechanical System Design, MechanicalManufacturing Technology, Mechanical Optimization Design, etc.

  After graduation, some students wouldbe recommended or achieve qualifications by examination for admission topostgraduate, some passed the national examination for admissions to the civilservants or public institutions, numerous graduates are employed by enterprisesin the fields of machinery both at home and abroad. The employment rate reaches100%. Graduates can get access to industry production sectors of manufacturingenterprises in the fields of machinery, mining, construction, waterconversation, medical care, transportation, aerospace, agricultural material,etc. They can also be engaged in design and development of mechanical products,manufacturing, tooling design, manufacturing process management, digitaltechnology applications, industrial automatic production maintenancemanagement, computer software application, product marketing and other aspects.In addition, they can engage in teaching and research work of mechanical majorin specialized or vocational colleges as well as scientific researchdepartments.

MechanicalDesign-Manufacture and Automation (Teacher-cultivating)

  Mechanical Design-Manufacture andAutomation (Teacher-cultivating) has been set up to provide the students withbasic knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing, application andinnovation ability. This program will propel them to be teachers carrying outeducation and teaching, or advanced engineers engaged in the design andmanufacture, technology development, application research, operation managementand business sales at the forefront of industrial production.

  We concentrate on cultivating threekinds of talents: the top-notch innovative type, the comprehensive andpractical type and the internationalized type. The main things they learn arebasic theory and basic knowledge of mechanical design, mechanicalmanufacturing, machinery and electronics as well as automation and some otherfields. After receiving basic cultivating as mechanical engineers, the studentsnot only have a solid foundation in engineering sciences, but also havecapacities in the areas of mechanical product design, manufacturing, equipmentcontrol and producing organization management as well as capacity in vocationaleducation.

  After graduation, some students work in vocational andtechnical schools, some students take part in the national postgraduateentrance examination or national public servants, and many other graduates areemployed in enterprises. The employment rate reaches 100%. Some graduates arequalified for the vocational schools or specialized colleges and be engaged inrelated teaching and scientific researches. Some prefer to work in industrialsectors of manufacturing companies in the fields of machinery, mining,construction, water conversation, medical care, transportation, aerospace,agricultural material, etc. to engage in design and development of mechanicalproducts, manufacturing, tooling design, manufacturing process management,digital technology applications, industrial automatic production maintenancemanagement, computer software application, product marketing and other aspects.

MechanicalDesign-Manufacture and Automation (high-speed trains project)

  This program focuses on a broad-basededucation in the mechanical engineering and automation. It aims at cultivatingadvanced technology talents with basic knowledge of high-speed train projectand capacity in application and innovation. Students will be cultivated to bequalified for practical engineering, design and manufacturing, guarantee andmaintenance of vehicle operation, malfunction diagnosis and maintenance,operation management and some other areas in the field of high-speed trainprogram.

  We focus on cultivating three kinds oftalents: the top-notch innovative type, the comprehensive and practical typeand the internationalized type. The students mainly learn some basic theory andprofessional knowledge in the areas of mechanical engineering, electrical andelectronic technology, vehicle construction and principle, vehicle design andtheory, vehicle testing and experiment technology and vehicle electroniccontrol, etc. Cultivated as vehicle engineers, the students have the ability toengage in EMU vehicle design, manufacturing, experiment, test and managementand so on.

  We have 19 professors and associateprofessors.

  Our core courses involve descriptivegeometry and mechanical drawing, theoretical mechanics, material mechanics,mechanical principles, base of mechanical manufacturing, base of mechanicalengineering control, mechanical manufacturing technology, vehicle structure andprinciple of high-speed rail trains.

  Our graduates are mainly engaged in thedesign and manufacture, maintenance and operation and management and otherareas of high-speed rail trains. Some work on production, maintenance,operation and management, business sales, technology development, technologyservice in manufacturing or marketing department of high-speed rail, bullettrain production enterprises or other similar state enterprises and privatebusinesses in transportation, repair, detection as well as traffic management.Some also go in for the design and manufacture, technology development,application research, operation and management, and business sales within themechanical manufacturing field in the industrial production forefront.

IndustrialDesign

  This program aims to endow studentswith basic theory, knowledge and application ability of industrial design tocultivate them as advanced engineering technical personnel. Students will bequalified for industrial product design, visual communication design,environmental design and teaching, and research work in enterprises, publicinstitution, professional design departments and research institutions.

  We focus on the development ofstudents’ scientific research qualities, and innovative ability withprofessional practice throughout the courses. Three workshops are combined atthe same time to strengthen students’ practical ability of design so thatgraduates can be comprehensive talents engaged in industrial product innovativedesign, communication design, human-computer interaction design, environmentand display design, etc., in enterprises, public institutions, professionaldesign agency and scientific institute. Talents in this field have a promisingfuture in modern enterprises and high-tech industries, and enjoy a wideemployment range and are extremely competitive. Graduates are widely adaptableand possess a bright career prospects.

  In terms of faculty, we have 20professors and associate professors.

  Our Core courses involvedesign drawings, color designfoundation, modeling foundation, ergonomics, visual communication design,product design, environmental facility design, graphic creative design, etc.

  After graduation, some students wouldbe recommended or achieve qualifications by examination for admission topostgraduate, some passed the national examination for admissions to the civilservants and public institutions or choosing further study abroad, and manyother graduates are employed by enterprises and the employment rate reaches100%. Graduates can get access to product design, visual communication designand environmental design in the industries of automobile, aircraft, engineeringmachinery, furniture, advertising, clothing, media ,etc.
