JSNU achieved the qualification of PhD in Biology Program (Serving National Special Demand Cultivation Program in 2012 and Biology Postgraduate Program in 2010. Biology program consecutively gains the first, the second and the third phase fund of Provincial Predominant Discipline. And Genetics and Ecology are Provincial Major Disciplines. Over years of development, Biology construction has been developed rapidly and its academic level has been improved constantly, especially in the field of sweet potato biology. JSNU has been worked with National R&D Center of Sweet Potato Industry, jointly establishing R&D team of Sweet Potato Biology, achieving fruitful results. With advanced research level, it can provide a great academic atmosphere for post doctors.
In recent three years, it has hosted and undertaken 1 National Natural Science Fund Major Project, 2 National Major Scientific and technological special sub projects, 38 National Natural Science Fund Projects. Vertical research fund reached 866.8 million Yuan. Annual fund for professors reached 900 thousand Yuan in recent 3 years. Excellent scientific and research environment and academic atmosphere have been provided.
There is an innovative team with international horizon. With the support of Provincial Predominant Discipline, it has introduces and cultivated a lot of first-class scholars and excellent doctors from abroad. “Medical Plant Resources Development and Utilization” has been evaluated as provincial innovative team, excellent discipline echelon and excellent teaching group. With 94 faculties, including 33 professors, 45 associate professors and 8 doctoral professors, it has 5 research fields: Molecular Biology of Anti-aging of Natural Product, Sweet Potato Genetic Breeding and Bioinformation, Integrated Plant Biology, Synthesis and Control of Medical Plant Metabolite and Microorganism Biotechnology.
1 teacher enjoys MOE Changjiang Scholar Program and National Outstanding Youth Fund, 1 enjoys special allowance of the State Council. Among other teacher, there is 1 Provincial Excellent Teacher, 6 candidates of provincial “333 project”, 5 academic leaders and 6 excellent teachers of provincial innovative projects.
Closely combined of Industry, Teaching and Researching, it further improved research team and organized a batch of teachers with international views for post doctors.
Besides, it established a series of innovative and applicative platforms. It owns several national laboratories like the Key Laboratory of Biotechnology for Medicinal Plant of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Green Synthetic for Functional Materials, etc.
